Today's Post: Kaia is 1.5 Years Old!

Kaia is a year and a half old today! She's been busy since last month, too.
As of the 22nd, she took her first unassisted steps! Finally!! Apparently, all we had to do was hold out a cookie. If only I'd known this a few months ago. Kaia still would much rather walk while holding someone's hand, and she's not too confident about taking more than a few steps on her own, but she's making progress!
Kaia is also talking lots and saying new words every day. It's like we have a hyperactive featherless parrot in the house. She isn't saying 2 words together just yet, but she definitely makes her opinions and desires known. Yesterday she said 'water' for the first time, instead of just pointing and yelling at her cup.
Kaia loves coloring, and she constantly gets into Keila's desk in search of crayons, markers, or pencils. She usually tries to scribble on paper, but we're still keeping a close eye on her, in case the wall or floor get a bit too tempting.
Kaia's favorite book is The Eye Book by Dr. Seuss, and she will request that it's read to her at least 3 or more times a day. Other books are acceptable, but she won't sit still for them as long as she will for The Eye Book.
Other pastimes include climbing the sofa (still), 'petting' Sushi, playing with Keila's dollhouse, and taking baths. Kaia got some new bath toys recently, which have further enforced her love of the tub. She often goes into the bathroom and yells 'bath!' at anyone who will listen.
Food has been an issue lately, and we've gotten picky about what we will eat. Anything Italian or in pasta sauce is still well accepted though, as are veggies such as broccoli or cooked greens. So it could be worse. Mostly Kaia is just too excited to sit still for too long and would rather go play.
Kaia had a bad cold and high fever last week, so she definitely didn't want to eat much then. So she's still around 9.4 kilos, and maybe 77 cm long. Maybe. She's still in 12 month sized clothing but can wear the 18 month sizes too, so she's got quite the wardrobe!
 Until next month!
