Kaia Every Day: 2018

Kaia is now 3 years old! She loves to tell everyone that she's a 'big girl' and she constantly wants to copy big sister Keila. Kaia loves to sing and dance, often making up her own songs that are a mix of Japanese and English. She's still using mostly English when she talks, but more and more Japanese phrases are popping into her vocabulary.

Kaia is about 92 cm tall, meaning she's shorter than average and therefore holding on to her nickname of 'Nugget'. Sadly she no longer refers to herself as Nugget or Nuggie any more, but she will still answer to it.

Potty training is going slowly as the force is strong in this rather stubborn child. Number 1 is no issue but no amount of bribing or pleading will get her to try number 2 on the potty. I'm sure it will happen one day, if we can come up with the correct incentive.

Kaia now goes to sleep happily with Keila but often wakes in the night yelling for mom and dad still. She's clever and has learned that yelling loudly tends to get results, especially at 2 in the morning.

Favorite activities include 'reading' books, playing house and cooking, and she's developed a sudden interest in puzzles, too. Especially if they're Peppa Pig puzzles.

Kaia asked Santa for a walking talking baby doll for Christmas, but when she received the much-wanted gift, it scared her and she didn't want anything to do with it. Instead she's been happily playing with Anpanman toys the past few days. Any toys that are Keila's are also great fun to play with.

Kaia's vocabulary is now so varied that she often speaks in full sentences, but she still has trouble saying her 's' 'f' and 'l' sounds. Hoping that resolves itself in the next year or so, but we will monitor it and see.

Kaia is also full of jokes and fun and loves to make us laugh. Here's to another great year, little one!
