Kaia is 3/4 of a year old today! How did she get so old so fast?
A quick update on this past month:
1. Kaia isn't crawling just yet, but she's right on the verge of it. And she is definitely somehow mobile. We can't turn our backs without her somehow getting halfway across the room and grabbing at all kinds of interesting objects. She moves by combination of scoots, lunges, and basically flinging herself forward and stretching as far as she can. It's not really in a noticeable way until you realize that she is no longer seated where she used to be. Kaia can also sit up from a prone position now, and she LOVES to roll over and sit up during diaper changes. The process has now become similar to that of diapering an eel, or so I'd imagine.
2. Kaia has developed the pincher grip and for the most part can get small bits of food (and fuzz, and pieces of paper) into her mouth. She particularly loves her organic baby cereal rings, but paper is a close second. Her other favorites are still of course bananas and avocados, but Kaia also likes cream cheese, any and all fruit, and bits of chicken. She will tolerate potatoes and Japanese squash and some green veggies. Green peas are still on the 'bleh' list. Kaia can also drink from her sippy cup quite well, although she's been doing this a while and I forgot to mention it. She's even managed to get the lid off once and splash water all over. She was quite proud of that accomplishment.
3. Kaia loves to play ball, and she is quite good at rolling it back and forth. She also waves quite happily, and we are working on high 5.
4. Kaia still yells NENE (Nay Nay) for 'Mama', but she calls Dada for Dada, and we are fairly certain she's yelled 'NaNa' for banana on more than one occasion. I don't think we are imagining it,'mmm even though it's early for a first word, as she says it in context and has a specific intonation for it. She does love her bananas!
5. I've no idea how much Kaia weighs right now or how long she is; we will be sure to measure her for next month, though. Until then...
