We've also finally hit 9 kilos! That still leaves her in about the 30th percentile for weight, but at least she's holding steady. No idea how tall she is, but she seems about the same size as other babies around her age? She's been loving avocado and eggs with sesame oil, tiny boiled fish, crackers, cheese, and fruit (strawberries!), although veggies are still quite well tolerated. Pasta is still a big favorite, too. Anything with tomato sauce on it, really. And peanut butter! Kaia's favorite snack is peanut butter spread thinly on crackers. Although more often than not, she will lick the peanut butter off and then toss the crackers to the floor. If only we had a dog. Thankfully, her big sister isn't too picky about grabbing food off the floor to eat. Gross? Maybe. Helpful? Yes!
Kaia is still quite the fan of containers--anything she can put items into and then take them out of....and repeat. She kept quite busy with an envelope and some trading cards yesterday. Paper is fascinating, too, especially anything that Mommy or Keila is interested in. Clothing has become of interest, if only to take it off and try to put it back on. Kaia took her cardigan off this afternoon, and then played for about 15 minutes on her own, just examining it and trying to put it back on!
Kaia's favorite book is (still) her baby picture book that shows the names of various items; she will sit and pore over it for quite a while by herself, but she prefers if I read it to her.
Speech is still progressing well; we're not quite as shy as we used to be, and will often say 'bye-bye' if prompted by Mommy. Kaia also makes the correct sounds when asked what a cat, dog, cow, and bird says. She can correctly point to her ears when asked where they are, and more often than not, she gets her mouth and nose correct, too. Kaia often calls for Keila ('Guy-ga') and calls herself 'Ga-ga' or something similar. Yesterday, she very clearly said the word 'milky', but she hasn't said it again since then.
Peek-a-boo is her favorite game at the moment, only she plays it the Japanese way and yells 'BAAA' when she shows her face. Kaia is quite the ham, and she will do just about anything to make people laugh. After she does something she knows is funny, she will then happily clap for herself.
Kaia has also started to get a temper when tired, and she sometimes lies on the floor and kicks when upset. It's amusing for now, probably won't be so much when she's bigger!
Until April 30th....
