Kaia is 11 months old! She's getting so big so fast! Well, not too big really, as she's still small for her age. Kaia has yet to pull herself to a standing position on her own, but she's really good at 'downward dog' and raising herself up on her knees, so I'm guessing it will happen soon. She can be a bit late to stand and walk as far as I'm concerned, since she manages to get into enough trouble as it is!
Kaia's favorite game lately involves pulling all papers out of the recycling and spreading them over the floor. She will then usually find one that looks particularly tasty and start chewing on it if Mommy has happened to glance away. If she gets a piece off and in her mouth, she then pulls it out and makes sure to show it to us before trying to eat it again. So far, she's only managed to swallow one scrap of paper that I know of!
Kaia is also still a huge fan of electrical cords, so everything in the house is unplugged when not in use. Thankfully she hasn't shown much interest in the outlets themselves so far.
Kaia also enjoy imitating sounds, and she will happily repeat 'Mama', 'Dada', 'Baba', and sometimes a 'meow' sound. We also still like doing 'high 5's', peek-a-boo, and spreading our arms up wide when someone says 'SOOO big'!
Kaia's 'crawl' has evolved into a sort of gallop, where she will pull herself forward with her arms and then lift both legs off the ground while pulling them forward. It rather resembles a frog hopping, to be honest. And she's quite fast at it, too! Kaia actually hates to sit still much at all when she's awake, which is making it rather difficult to take pictures lately.
Favorite books are still mostly books with baby faces in them, although One Hungry Monster and any books with Elmo are also well-loved.
Favorite foods the last month have still been avocado, boiled chicken, salmon, carrots, and of course cheese, although more spices are being tolerated than previously. Any with garlic used to be spat out, but now Kaia will happily eat the same stews as us, provided she's the one feeding herself. She doesn't want much help to do anything any more.
Sleep is miserable and Kaia will likely still be attached to Mommy when she's 24. Or so it feels. But she's a great little snuggler, and I'm sure I'll miss it once she stops wanting to be held all the time.
We haven't weighed Kaia lately, and I've no idea how long she is either. That will have to wait until her ONE YEAR update next month!
